MUSICAL NOTES
Art Ensemble of Cacophony
It’s cryptic, it’s annoying, it’s often absolutely meaningless, intractable, infuriating, obnoxious and noisier than Times Square when the Number 7 crashes in, but it can also be exhilarating, shocking and occasionally grand despite being so goddamn Seventies. It’s the Art Ensemble of Chicago . Here, from, I think, its 1973 “Fanfare for the Warrior” LP, its ever-surprising “Tnoona,” in mp3, followed by—because you should be rewarded, if you make it that far—Harry James’s “My Silent Love.”
