A Mother’s Rejection

A stately symbol, but seldom more than a roadside curiosity.

BEIRUT—No, I won’t take to the streets. Not now, not again. Not for this cause or the other. Every time we take to the streets and for whatever reason, we’re exploited for personal, not Lebanese, volitions. Today’s demonstration isn’t different from yesterday’s. It’s led by the same willful warmongers. I don’t buy that option “against corruption, etc.” Bullshit. I don’t believe in a National Unity government. It never worked in the past and nothing has changed since. I don’t believe that a single being, no matter what camp he’s from, wants the good of Lebanon. It’s not Hezbollah that’s going to give us “ LIBERTY and the rest of it…” There’s nothing easier than sloganeering. It’s now almost two years since we have (supposedly) achieved Sovereignty and Independence (my foot) and here’s what the current government has done with it all: assassinations, war, demonstrations, insults… I’m a mother who lives in Lebanon but cannot live there anymore. I have the right to a decent life with my children. I don’t see among us any elders (we couldn’t possibly call them politicians or governors) who could grant me that much. I await a third way, in vain. That we should awake already, for heaven’s sake.

Non je ne manifesterais pas. je ne manifesterais plus. Ni pour l’un ni pour l’autre. A chaque fois qu’on descend dans la rue, qu’elle que soit la raison, on nous exploite pour des velleités personnelles et non pas libanaises.

Celle d’aujourd’hui n’est pas differente de celle d’hier. Elle est menee par les memes va-t-en guerre d’avant. Je n’y crois pas a cette option” contre la corruption etc.” Foutaises.

Je ne crois pas en un gouvernement d’Union Nationale. Ca n’avait pas fonctionne dans le passe et rien n’a change depuis.

Je ne crois pas qu’un seul, de quelque camp qu’il soit, cherche le bien du Liban.

Ce n’est pas Hezbollah qui nous donnera “LIBERTE et machin chose ...” C’est tres facile d’utiliser les slogans.

Cela fait pres de deux ans qu’on nous avons (soi-disant ) obtenu la Souverainete et L’Independance ( mon oeil....) et voila ce que le gouvernement actuel en a fait: attentat, guerre, manifs et insultes....

Je suis une mere vivant au Liban mais qui ne peut plus plus y vivre. J’ai droit avec mes enfants a une vie decente. Je ne vois pas parmi nos “zou3ama” (on ne peut pas les appeler politiciens ou gouverneurs) lequel pourrait me la donner.

J’attends en vain la troisième voie (x)

Qu’on se reveille de grâce.
