Today's pictures from Bhutan, the small Himalayan kingdom of 2 million-some people, are by Steve Evans, a cultural researcher and ethnographer based in Atlanta. He considers his photography a hobby. His work captures the multi-layered colors of a country, literally and artistically, with a combination of precision and effusive joy that leaves the viewer rewarded emotionally but wanting more. (The work is untitled unless otherwise noted.)

 

 

 

Evans writes: "Driving outside the city of Thimpu, I stopped on a hillside to admire the royal palace. These two schoolboys walked by and were more than willing to pose for a shot! [Nikon FM2 / 35mm Nikon lens]
